Your have shown haow he does begin to transform through his reltaionship with his boss. He does begin to look at the big picture. Next time try and bring in actual quotes to further support what you are saying and does this situation where people grow through thier experiences remind you of anything else you have read?

Identity Poem

EQ: How do our personal experiences shape our views of others?

I believe this question relates to identity because in the song by Tupac he says we should change of we live because there is so much racism and hate that something has to be done about it. When someone is disrespected their whole life, they tend to trust less people and makes it harder for them to meet new people. They tend to hate who ever else is part of that hate. Someone's identity is made by whatever they encounter in life therefore everyone will have a different view in life.

The picture relates to identity because racism is a result to personal experiences in conflict with views of others. Racism is the hate for someone's or a group's identity.

Come on come on
I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself
is life worth living should I blast myself?
I'm tired of bein' poor & even worse I'm black
my stomach hurts so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch
Cops give a damn about a negro
pull the trigger kill a nigga he's a hero
Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares
one less hungry mouth on the welfare
First ship 'em dope & let 'em deal the brothers
give 'em guns step back watch 'em kill each other
It's time to fight back that's what Huey said
2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead
I got love for my brother but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each other
We gotta start makin' changes
learn to see me as a brother instead of 2 distant strangers
and that's how it's supposed to be
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
but things changed, and that's the way it is

[Bridge w/ changing ad libs]
Come on come on
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
aww yeah
[Repeat]

[2]
I see no changes all I see is racist faces
misplaced hate makes disgrace to races
We under I wonder what it takes to make this
one better place, let's erase the wasted
Take the evil out the people they'll be acting right
'cause both black and white is smokin' crack tonight
and only time we chill is when we kill each other
it takes skill to be real, time to heal each other
And although it seems heaven sent
We ain't ready, to see a black President, uhh
It ain't a secret don't conceal the fact
the penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with blacks
But some things will never change
try to show another way but you stayin' in the dope game
Now tell me what's a mother to do
bein' real don't appeal to the brother in you
You gotta operate the easy way
"I made a G today" But you made it in a sleazy way
sellin' crack to the kid. " I gotta get paid,"
Well hey, well that's the way it is

[Bridge]

[Talking:]
We gotta make a change...
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
what we gotta do, to survive.

[3]
And still I see no changes can't a brother get a little peace
It's war on the streets & the war in the Middle East
Instead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs
so the police can bother me
And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do
But now I'm back with the facts givin' it back to you
Don't let 'em jack you up, back you up,
crack you up and pimp smack you up
You gotta learn to hold ya own
they get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone
But tell the cops they can't touch this
I don't trust this when they try to rush I bust this
That's the sound of my tool you say it ain't cool
my mama didn't raise no fool
And as long as I stay black I gotta stay strapped
& I never get to lay back
'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the pay backs
some punk that I roughed up way back
comin' back after all these years
rat-tat-tat-tat-tat that's the way it is uhh

[Bridge 'til fade:]
Some things will never change

Brother Dear Response (1st short story)

I think out of Greg, Sharlene and Dad i am more like Greg because i like to do my own thing and not follow anyone's orders of how to live my life. I also connect to Greg because i'm used to being teased everyday of my life by my dad. I don't lose my temper like him, but i do get annoyed at times. I also hate conflicts so i try to avoid them as much as possible. I don't see the point in arguing. I'd rather have a mature relaxed conversation to fix any problems. As soon as i get screamed at i try to end the conversation as quickly as possible. Greg is whom i feel i connect to the easiest.

A&P Response

How are people transformed through their relationships with others?

In this story the cashier is standing in his kiosk waiting for any customer to approach him so his job can begin, but focus changes when three girls in bikinis walk into the store. He's fine withe the thought of the girls in the store wearing bikinis, but he wonders what the manager will think. The cashier thought why it could be a problem if they weren't hurting anyone and it wasn't as if they were naked. When the manager spotted them at the cashier's kiosk, he approaches the girls. Since he cashier had already seen them and noticed they weren't hurting anyone he was okay with the type of attire they had on, but at first glance the manager had a problem with it. I think a first impression means a lot to the manager since he thought it was innappropiate to wear a bikini in a store that's located in the middle of the town. While the manager argued with the girls, the cashier couldn't help but feel disgusted to be working with this guy. I think the embarressment of being somewhat related to the over reaction of the manager led to the cashier quitting because i think it made him notice that he isn't that way. By him quitting i think he showed the manager and perhaps the girls if they found out that how the manager reacted was wrong and he didn't want a part of it. If this ever got out he didn't want to be known for having a relationship with the manager therefore he acted against it.
